In an interview with our American colleagues from People magazine, the agent of the actor and producer Mel Gibson reveals that the latter has also paid the price for this virus which is currently devastating the world.
The facts date back to last April and took place in the greatest secrecy until then. At 64, Mel Gibson has spent a week in the hospital after being tested positive to COVID-19.

Mel Gibson: what treatment did he receive?
As confirmed by the actor’s agent to the American media, Mel Gibson was infected with Covid-19 last April. “He spent a week in the hospital and has since been completely restored“, reassures his agent. The star was admitted to hospital in Los Angeles where he was taken care of. We are also able to tell you what treatment saved Mel Gibson.
“He was treated with the drug Remdesivirwhen he was in hospital and has tested negative several times since, as well as positive for antibodies,” adds the agent. It is an active substance of the drug Veklury, recommended by the European Health Agency. medicine (EMA) to treat Covid-19.
It is recommended in adults and adolescents from the age of 12, when they have pneumonia and require supplemental oxygen. It is the first drug to have been recommended for authorization in Europe in the treatment of Covid-19.
This drug is also active against Ebola virus, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), Junin virus (causing Argentine hemorrhagic fever), Middle East respiratory syndrome virus (MERS-CoV, which belongs to the family of coronaviruses) or the Marburg virus. It is an antiviral treatment available in the form of a lyophilisate (pharmaceutical form) intended to be administered intravenously.
Mel Gibson: he is one of the patients at risk
At 64, Mel Gibson’s case was not to be taken lightly. Indeed, the latter is one of the patients particularly vulnerable in the face of Covid-19. “Certain populations are more at risk of serious forms, admissions to intensive care or death”, indeed notes the Ministry of Health before citing people aged 65 or over.
In addition, Mel Gibson is also proof that the symptoms of Covid-19 are likely to evolve quickly. Just before his hospitalization, he had been seen in a Californian grocery store, accompanied by his partner Rosalind Ross, with whom he had her ninth child in 2017.
